eSIM Brazil 2026: Buy with PIX and Activate in 2 Minutes

Buy eSIM with PIX in Brazil 2026: instant payment, activation under 2 min, Claro/Vivo coverage, full invoice, from $5 per 5 GB — coverage, pricing

·12 min read·by eSIM Ahora Team

If you're looking to buy an eSIM with PIX in Brazil, you've come to the right place. At eSIM Ahora we accept PIX for payments from Brazilian accounts, and activation takes less than 2 minutes after payment confirmation. In this guide we explain how it works, which banks operate with PIX, and how we compare with other eSIM platforms in Brazil.

What is PIX and why it's useful for buying eSIM

PIX is Brazil's Central Bank instant payment system, launched in November 2020. It enables money transfers in seconds, 24/7, with no transaction fees for users. Over 140 million Brazilians use PIX monthly (May 2026, source: Banco Central do Brasil). To buy an eSIM, PIX eliminates the wait for international cards and avoids currency conversion fees charged by processors like Stripe or PayPal.

When you pay with PIX, the provider receives confirmation in real time. At eSIM Ahora, our system automatically issues the eSIM QR code after verifying payment, with no manual intervention. This cuts activation time from 10–30 minutes (typical with card) to under 2 minutes.

Banks that support PIX

Practically all Brazilian banks are in the PIX network: Itaú, Bradesco, Banco do Brasil, Caixa Econômica Federal, Santander, Nubank, Inter, C6 Bank, PagSeguro, Mercado Pago. If you have a checking account, savings account, or digital wallet in Brazil, you already have PIX access. Check your bank's app for the "Pix" or "Transfer" option, where you can use CPF, email, phone number, or QR code as the key.

PIX advantages over international card

  • Free: no transaction fee (some banks charge if you transfer more than R$1,000 to non-clients, but for eSIM purchases of $5–$10 it's always free).
  • Instant: transfer confirms in 5–10 seconds, versus 3–5 minutes for a card with 3D Secure.
  • No blocks: international cards are often blocked by Brazilian banks when they detect an unknown foreign merchant. PIX carries no such risk because the recipient is registered at the Central Bank.
  • Better exchange rate: if you pay with card in USD or EUR, your Brazilian bank applies IOF (1.1% for international purchases) plus exchange spread (1–3%). With PIX you pay in BRL directly, with no conversion.

How to buy eSIM with PIX at eSIM Ahora

The full process takes 3 steps:

Step 1: Choose your plan

Go to plans for Brazil and select how much data you need. Our plans range from 3 GB to 20 GB (prices in USD, converted to BRL at payment time). If you'll be in Brazil for more than 7 days, a 10 GB or larger plan makes sense, because apps consume 300–500 MB daily (WhatsApp, Google Maps, Instagram).

Step 2: Complete checkout

On the payment screen, select "PIX" as your method. Enter your email (to receive the eSIM QR code) and your CPF or CNPJ (required by Brazilian law — Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados requires tax ID for telecom services). The system generates a PIX code with the amount in reals.

Step 3: Pay and activate

Open your bank app, scan the PIX QR code or copy the random key (a ~100-character string). Confirm payment. In under 10 seconds, you receive an email with:

  • The eSIM QR code (standard GSMA LPA format).
  • Setup instructions for iOS and Android.
  • Manual activation code (in case the QR doesn't scan well).

Open Settings → Cellular → Add Data Plan → Scan QR Code, point your camera at the QR in the email, and the profile downloads. Your eSIM is ready to connect when you land in Brazil. If you're already in Brazil, activate it right away.

What network eSIM Ahora uses in Brazil

At eSIM Ahora we use the networks of Claro and Vivo, which together cover over 95% of Brazil's population. Claro operates in all state capitals and 4,500+ municipalities. Vivo covers 99% of federal highways. Both have domestic roaming (they connect to each other in areas where only one has a tower), so if you're in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Salvador, Fortaleza, Recife, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, or Florianópolis, coverage is continuous.

In remote areas of Amazonas, Acre, Roraima, and parts of Mato Grosso, coverage drops to 3G or disappears — this affects all Brazilian operators, not just us. If you're doing eco-tourism in Manaus–Tefé or Pantanal, check the Claro/Vivo coverage map before travel. In those cases, consider bringing a TIM physical chip (better penetration in Amazonas) as backup.

Comparison with TIM and Oi

TIM has 4G coverage in 4,100+ cities (May 2026, source: TIM Investor Relations). Oi has been merging with Claro since 2024 and many of its towers have been migrated to Claro already. If you find an eSIM using TIM, coverage matches Claro/Vivo in urban zones and is slightly better in the North. We don't offer TIM right now because its roaming agreements for foreign eSIM data have speed restrictions (5 GB/day FUP with throttling to 1 Mbps). Claro and Vivo don't apply FUP on our plans.

Price comparison: eSIM Ahora vs competitors with PIX

As of May 2026, few international eSIM platforms accept PIX. Airalo and Holafly have supported PIX since 2025, but their BRL prices include an 8–12% margin over the Central Bank exchange rate. Here's the comparison for 5 GB valid 7 days in Brazil:

Provider Price (PIX) Network Support Invoice
eSIM Ahora $5–$10 Claro, Vivo Email, Telegram (< 4h) Full, issued in ES
Airalo R$ 45 (~$8.50) Vivo Chat 24/7 Receipt no VAT
Holafly R$ 52 (~$9.80) Claro Chat 24/7 Receipt no VAT
Saily No PIX

(Prices converted to USD using May 2026 rate: 1 USD = 5.30 BRL. Source: Banco Central do Brasil.)

eSIM Ahora charges a range of $5–$10 for 5 GB; the exact price depends on active promotions — check plans for Brazil for current pricing. Airalo charges R$ 45 (equivalent to $8.50) but doesn't issue a tax invoice (only a PDF receipt with no issuer CNPJ). Holafly charges R$ 52 ($9.80) and includes unlimited data with FUP throttling at 5 GB (speed drops to 1 Mbps after 5 GB consumed). Saily doesn't accept PIX yet; card and Apple Pay only.

If you need an invoice for tax deduction (freelancers, businesses), eSIM Ahora issues a full invoice with issuer CIF, business name, and service detail. Airalo and Holafly only provide receipts with no tax value in Brazil.

Legal requirements: CPF and invoicing

Brazil requires all telecom services (including data eSIMs) to register the customer's CPF or CNPJ. This comes from ANATEL Resolution 477/2007 (Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações) and was reinforced by LGPD in 2020. If a provider doesn't ask for CPF, they're operating outside Brazilian regulation and their eSIMs can be blocked by local operators.

At eSIM Ahora we ask for CPF or CNPJ at checkout. We use that data to:

  • Issue the invoice (required by law).
  • Register the eSIM profile with Claro/Vivo (they report to ANATEL monthly).
  • Comply with log retention for 1 year (LGPD Article 15).

We don't share your CPF with third parties outside Claro/Vivo and ANATEL. All data is stored on servers in the EU (we comply with European GDPR, which is stricter than LGPD).

What to do if you don't have a CPF

If you're a foreign tourist without a CPF, you can use your passport number preceded by "PASS-" (example: PASS-AB123456). ANATEL accepts international documents for non-residents. If you'll be in Brazil more than 90 days or plan to work remotely, it's worth getting a CPF from Receita Federal (free, done online in 5 minutes: https://www.gov.br/receitafederal/pt-br).

Step-by-step activation on iOS and Android

iOS (iPhone XR or later)

  1. Verify your iPhone supports eSIM. Compatible models: iPhone XR, XS, XS Max, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, SE (2nd gen or later). iPad Pro 2018+ and iPad Air 2019+ also work.
  2. Go to SettingsCellular Data (or Cellular depending on region).
  3. Tap Add Data PlanUse QR Code.
  4. Scan the QR you received by email. If it doesn't scan, tap "Enter Manually" and paste the activation code (starts with LPA:1$...).
  5. The profile downloads in 10–20 seconds. Name it ("Brazil eSIM Ahora") and set it as your data line.
  6. Turn on Data Roaming for that line (yes, you need it even for a local eSIM — iOS treats all eSIMs as roaming).

Android (Samsung, Google Pixel, Xiaomi, Motorola)

  1. Verify your model supports eSIM. Compatible: Samsung Galaxy S20+, S21+, S22+, S23+, S24+, Z Flip/Fold 3+; Google Pixel 3+; Xiaomi 12T Pro, 13 Pro; Motorola Razr 2019+, Edge 30/40.
  2. Go to SettingsNetwork & InternetSIM (menu varies by brand — on Samsung it's ConnectionsSIM Manager).
  3. Tap Add or the "+" icon → Download a SIM.
  4. Scan the QR or paste the manual code.
  5. The profile installs in 15–30 seconds. Name it and activate it.
  6. Turn on Data Roaming in that SIM's settings.

If the code won't scan, verify the camera has permission in Settings → Apps → Camera → Permissions.

Additional countries with PIX

If you're traveling to multiple countries in the region, consider regional plans. At eSIM Ahora we offer multi-country plans for Latin America covering Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay, and Brazil in a single profile. Price is $18–$25 for 10 GB valid 30 days. You can pay with PIX from Brazil and use the data in any of those countries.

For trips to United States or Mexico, we sell country-specific eSIMs with T-Mobile (USA) and Telcel (Mexico) networks. Those plans don't accept PIX yet — card or SEPA transfer only. We're working to integrate PIX for payments from Brazil to all our destinations.

Troubleshooting common issues

The QR won't scan

If the camera won't recognize the QR code, try:

  • Increase the brightness of the screen showing the QR.
  • Hold the phone 20–30 cm away from the QR.
  • Use the manual code (copy it from the email and paste it in "Enter Manually").

No signal after activation

Check:

  • Data Roaming is on for the eSIM line.
  • Network selection is set to automatic (don't force Claro or Vivo manually — let the phone choose).
  • Restart your phone. iOS sometimes needs a restart to connect the first time.
  • If you still have no signal, check Settings → Network that the APN is blank or set to "internet". You don't need to configure APN manually; eSIM profiles come with APN preconfigured.

Data ran out early

Check usage in Settings → Cellular Data → View Usage. Apps like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube consume 200–300 MB per hour in HD quality. WhatsApp video calls use 5–7 MB per minute. If you're sharing hotspot with another device, usage doubles. You can buy an extra top-up on plans for Brazil without losing remaining data from your original plan.

FAQ

How long does the eSIM take to activate after paying with PIX?

Activation is automatic and takes under 2 minutes. The system detects the PIX payment in 5–10 seconds, validates the amount, and issues the QR code by email. If you don't receive the email in 3 minutes, check your spam folder and verify you entered the correct email at checkout. If the issue persists, email us at soporte@esimahora.com with your PIX receipt.

Can I use PIX if my bank account is not Brazilian?

No. PIX only works between accounts registered in Brazil's Central Bank system. If you have an account in Argentina, Mexico, Spain, or any other country, you can't generate a PIX transfer. In that case, use an international credit/debit card or SEPA transfer (for eurozone accounts only).

Does the eSIM work in rural areas of Brazil?

It depends on the region. In the South, Southeast, and Northeast (states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Bahia, Pernambuco, Ceará), 4G coverage is continuous on highways and in cities. In the North and Center-West (Amazonas, Pará, Acre, Roraima, Mato Grosso, Tocantins), coverage drops to 3G or disappears outside capitals. Check the Claro map (https://www.claro.com.br/cobertura) or Vivo map (https://www.vivo.com.br/para-voce/ajuda/cobertura) before traveling to remote areas.

Do I need to deactivate my physical SIM when using eSIM?

It's not required, but we recommend turning off data roaming on your physical SIM to avoid charges. Keep the physical SIM active only for calls and SMS (if your local plan allows at no cost). Use the eSIM exclusively for data. On iOS, go to Settings → Cellular Data → select the eSIM as your "Data Line". On Android, go to Settings → Network → SIM → Mobile Data → select the eSIM.

What if I lose the email with the QR code?

Email us at soporte@esimahora.com with your purchase email and the last 4 digits of the CPF you used. We'll resend the QR code within 1 hour (Brazil hours: 9am–6pm UTC-3, Monday–Friday; weekends: 4–6 hour response).

Can I share hotspot from the eSIM?

Yes. Plans allow tethering (sharing via WiFi, Bluetooth, or USB). No device limit, but remember each extra device consumes data from the same pool. A laptop connected by hotspot can use 500 MB–1 GB per hour if you're downloading files or video calling.
