Mobile networks in Fiji

Fiji has two main carriers: Vodafone Fiji (largest nationwide coverage including outer islands and remote resorts) and Digicel Fiji. The eSIM Ahora connects to the strongest network. Plugs are Type I (Australian/New Zealand format, three flat pins in an inverted V), 240V — you need a specific adapter from Europe or the Americas. 4G coverage reaches Nadi, Suva (capital), Lautoka, Sigatoka, Pacific Harbour, and the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands tourist chains.

Travel tips for Fiji

Nadi International Airport (NAN) offers limited free WiFi. The currency is the Fijian dollar (FJD); ANZ Fiji, BSP (Bank of South Pacific), and Westpac Fiji ATMs accept foreign cards with no commission up to 1000 FJD. Tipping is NOT tradition in Fiji (unlike neighboring Tahiti or Hawaii). Sevusevu culture is mandatory when visiting traditional villages — bring kava (yaqona) as a gift, ceremony with village chief. Uber apps do NOT operate in Fiji — use local taxis with meter or hotel services. WhatsApp and Facebook are dominant apps. Driving on the left — British legacy.

Frequently asked questions about Fiji eSIM

Does the Fiji eSIM work in Mamanucas, Yasawas, and boat excursions?
Yes. Vodafone Fiji covers the Mamanuca chain (closer to Nadi, Tropica Island, Castaway Island, Mana, Treasure Island) and Yasawa (farther, ~80 km northwest — Yasawa Island Resort, Mantaray, Octopus). The South Sea Cruises Yasawa Flyer maintains signal near shore. On more remote islands like Vatuvara or Tavuki coverage can be limited — resorts provide WiFi (often paid). For liveaboard dives in Beqa Lagoon or Great Sea Reef consider satellite communication.
Does the eSIM cover Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and remote zones?
Yes in towns. Vodafone has 4G coverage in Savusavu and Labasa (Vanua Levu) and Matei (Taveuni). For diving Rainbow Reef (one of the world's best in Vanua Levu) coverage extends several km offshore. At Bouma Falls (Taveuni) and deep mountain areas it can drop. For Lau Group (remote eastern chain) special permits required — limited tourism.
Does the Fiji eSIM work for South Pacific cruises to Tonga, Samoa, or New Zealand?
No. Our Fiji eSIM only works in Fijian territory. South Pacific cruises (P&O Pacific Adventure, Princess) connecting Fiji-Tonga-Samoa-Vanuatu cross international zones — Fiji eSIM drops 10-15 km offshore. Approaching Auckland or Sydney the eSIM doesn't connect to NZ/AU networks. For Pacific loops consider our regional Oceania eSIM or per country.
