However since April 2023 the civil war between SAF (army) and RSF has destroyed infrastructure, caused prolonged internet shutdowns (entire Sudan dark for weeks/months periodically), and many operators have limited services. Meroe pyramids (UNESCO, more numerous than Egypt's) have basic coverage when the network works. Desert and western zones (Darfur, Kordofan) have minimal coverage due to destruction. No 5G.
