Mobile networks in Denmark

Denmark has three main carriers: TDC NET (historic operator, largest nationwide coverage with 5G), Telia Denmark (part of Nordic Telia group, 5G in major cities), and Telenor Denmark (Norwegian subsidiary, best value). The eSIM Ahora connects to the strongest network. Plugs are Type C and K (Type K is Danish, unique — similar to F but with different grounding pin), 230V — standard European adapters work on C, but K is Danish-proprietary. 4G/5G coverage reaches the entire country including Faroe Islands (administered by Denmark but with separate carriers).

Travel tips for Denmark

Copenhagen Kastrup Airport (CPH) offers fast unlimited free WiFi. The currency is the Danish krone (DKK, ~6.9 DKK/USD — Denmark has NOT adopted the euro despite EU membership); Danske Bank, Nordea Denmark, and Jyske Bank ATMs accept foreign cards with no commission up to 5000 DKK. Tips are 5-10% (not mandatory — included in prices). Denmark is very expensive — coffee costs 40-50 DKK ($6-7), Joe & The Juice burger 80-100 DKK. MobilePay is the local peer-to-peer payment system (similar to Spanish Bizum). Driving on the right. Bicycles are central — Copenhageners use bikes more than cars.

Frequently asked questions about Denmark eSIM

Does the Denmark eSIM work in Copenhagen Metro, ferries, and IC trains?
Yes. The Copenhagen Metro (4 lines) has 4G/5G at all stations and tunnels. DSB IC trains (Copenhagen-Aarhus, Copenhagen-Esbjerg) have free onboard WiFi and TDC coverage holds along most of the route. Mols-Linien ferries (Sjælland-Jutland) and to small islands (Bornholm, Samsø) have coastal coverage that weakens 10-15 km offshore.
Does the eSIM work crossing to Sweden via the Øresund Bridge?
No. Our Denmark eSIM only works in Danish territory. Crossing the Øresund Bridge to Malmö (Sweden) — 16 km of bridge and tunnel — the eSIM stops working mid-route. For Copenhagen-Malmö-Stockholm loops consider our Europe 30+ eSIM covering Denmark and Sweden, or one per country. Hyllie station (Swedish side) marks the change.
Does the Denmark eSIM work in Greenland or the Faroe Islands?
No. Although Greenland and the Faroe Islands are Danish Realm territories, they have separate telecom carriers. Greenland uses Tusass (formerly Tele Greenland) — our Denmark eSIM doesn't connect. Faroe Islands use Faroese Telecom and Hey — no connection either. For those destinations consider specific eSIMs or satphone (rural Greenland has very limited coverage even for residents).
